The project manager is an easy and powerful tool to manage all your projects and calculation files. Once you have successfully logged in, you will see the project manager where you can start all calculation modules. With the project manager you can structure your work very easily. The project manager helps you to open, save, delete, copy or rename projects or calculation files. You can change your personal data or your password here if necessary.

3.1 User Properties

The user properties allow you to modify your personal data or to change the password to one that is easier to remember. Please click on ‘User properties’ to go to the data management.

3.1.1 Changing User Data

1. Click on the button ‘User properties’.

2. Modify your personal data.

Please Note: It is not possible to change your username.

3. Enter your password into the left input field, next to the button ‘Change properties’.

4. Click on the button ‘Change properties’.

Your data is being updated.

5. Click on the button ‘Project management’ to return to the project management.

3.1.2 Changing the Password

1. Click on the button ‘User properties’.

2. Enter the new password into the input field ‘New password’.

3. Confirm the password in the input field ‘Repeat password’.

4. Enter your old password into the input field ‘Password’, next to the button ‘Change properties’.

5. Click on the button ‘Change properties’.

The new password has been successfully updated.

3.2 Project Management

3.2.1 Projects

Here you can manage your projects. You can create a new project, you can copy, rename, or delete projects. The window ‘Files’ lists the content of the selected project.

Creating a New Project

1. Click in the ‘Projects’ window.

2. Click the right mouse button.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘New project’.

A new input field is opened.

3. Enter a name into the input field.

4. Confirm with ‘Ok’ to create the new project.

The input field is closed. Now your ‘New project’ is created in the list window ‘Projects’.

Copying a Project

1. Select the project you would like to copy and click the right mouse button.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Copy’.

The message window displays ‘Project copied’.

3. Click in the window ‘Projects’.

4. Right-click to open the context menu.

5. Select the menu item ‘Paste’.

Your copied project is now available.

Please note: The copied project has got still the title ‘Copy’.
You can change the name of that project later. If you copy a project, the content (files) of this project will copied too.

Renaming a Project

1. Select the project you would like to rename and click the right mouse button.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Rename’.

An input field is opened.

3. Change the name of the project.

4. Click on the button ‘Ok’.

The input field is closed. Your project is available in the window ‘Projects’.

Deleting a Project

1. Select the project you would like to delete and then a right-click on this project.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Delete’.

A message is displayed, asking you to delete the project with all contained files.

3. Confirm this question with ‘Yes’.

Your project is deleted.

Project Folder ‘Default’

The folder ‘Default’ is a default setting. If you close a calculation module, the current state of the calculation will be saved automatically as a calculation file called ‘last Calculation’ in the project folder ‘Default’. In case you forgot to save your calculation, no data get lost. The calculation modules of the same module will be overwritten when opening and closing the modules.

Please Note: You cannot rename, delete or cut the folder ‘Default’.

Please note: This function is not available in every license mode.

3.2.2 Calculation Modules

The selection list in the window ‘Calculation type’ includes all calculation modules. The listing uses a tree structure to start the modules. To open the full list of all calculations modules, click on the general description ‘Mechanical engineering’. To display each calculation module, click on the plus sign (+). To close the tree structure, click on ‘Mechanical engineering’ again. In order to close a specific part of the tree, click on the minus sign (-) next to the calculation module. If you select one of the calculation modules, then all files, which belong to this calculation module, will be displayed. By using a filter function, the saved calculation files can be displayed within a specific module or across modules.

Starting a New Calculation

To start the calculation of a parallel key, click on ‘Shaft-hub-connections’ and select the calculation module ‘Parallel key’.

Please note: Double-click the calculation module and you can also start the module.

3.2.3 Calculation Files

The window ‘Files’ displays all calculation files. By using a filter function, the saved calculation files can be displayed within a specific module or across modules. Choose a calculation module and see all files which belong to the respective calculation module.

Copying a File

PIC

1. Select the file you would like to copy and click the right mouse button on this file.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Copy’.

The message window displays ‘File copied’.

3. Select the project where you would like to copy the file.

4. Click the right mouse-button.

A context menu is opened.

5. Click on the menu item ‘Paste’.

Renaming a File

1. Select the file you want to rename and click the right mouse button on this file.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Rename’.

A new input field is opened.

3. Change the name of the file.

4. Confirm with ‘Ok’.

The input field is closed. Your file is now available in the window ‘Files’.

Please Note: If you change the file extension (for example: sft, brg oder ftk...), the file is useless and cannot be assigned to a project anymore. Please pay attention that the data file will keep the file extension.

Cutting a File

1. Select the file you would like to copy and click the right mouse button on this file.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Cut’.

The message window displays ‘File cut’.

3. Select the project where you would like to paste the file.

4. Click the right mouse-button.

A context menu is opened.

5. Select the menu item ‘Paste’.

The file is now available in the new project.

Deleting a File

1. Select the file you would like to delete and click the right mouse button on this file.

A context menu is opened.

2. Select the menu item ‘Delete’.

A new window is opened.

3. Confirm the message with ‘Yes’.

Your file is deleted.

Opening an Existing Calculation File

1. Select a calculation file you would like to open.

2. Click on the calculation file.

3. Click on the button ‘Open calculation’.

The calculation file is opened.

Please Note: Double-click the calculation file opens the file, too.

3.3 Message Window

The message window is your control window. Here you can check your management functions. If you copy a file, the message ‘File copied’ is displayed in the window.

3.4 The Button ‘Refresh’

With clicking the ‘Refresh’ button, the data content of all windows will be updated. For example: Open the calculation module ‘Parallel key’ and run a calculation, save this calculation and close the module. If you now return to the project manager, your saved calculation is not displayed immediately. Press the button ‘Refresh’ and your file is displayed.

3.5 File Info

Here you get further information about the files. Click on a file, the ‘File info’ appears. You will get the name of the file, the calculation type as well as the date and time of your calculation.

3.6 Time Account

The time left is displayed in the information area. As long as you work in the project manager, no time will be lost or deducted from your account during this time. But when you open one of the calculation modules, the usage time will be automatically deducted from your account.

Please Note: The project manager provides calculation modules for free: fit calculation according to DIN ISO 286, shaft dimensioning according to Niemann, hardness conversion according to DIN 50150 as well as a lubricant selection. When you start these modules from the eAssistant web site, it is not necessary to register for the eAssistant. If you open the free modules using the project manager, no usage time will be deducted from your account.

3.6.1 Free Test Account

We offer you a free test account. The account provides a time credit of five hours to test the eAssistant without any charges or obligation. The complete web-based working environment, including project management, open and save options, is available. If the trial period for the eAssistant has expired, the account is automatically disabled. If you want to benefit further from the eAssistant, you may purchase an account. The eAssistant offers two different pricing models: time limit accounts and flat rate accounts.

3.6.2 Time Limit Account

If you have occasional calculation tasks, then a time limit account is the perfect solution for you. 30 minutes before your time account is expired, a message will be displayed. Is the usage time finally expired, then all functions will be disabled. But you can save your calculation data locally. To find more information, please visit our web site www.eAssistant.eu.

3.6.3 Flat Rate Account

Do you have tight dead-lines or need to solve frequent calculation problems? Then the eAssistant flat rates are the right and cost-effective choice for you. If the flat rate is expired, all functions will be disabled. For more information, please visit our web site www.eAssistant.eu.

3.7 Save Files Locally

In general there are two different possibilities to save a calculation. Save your calculation either to the eAssistant server or directly to your computer. The possibility of local saving is an option in the project manager. Activate the check box ‘Enable file save local’.

A new window with a safety warning is opened. Please read the content and click the ‘OK’ btton.

Please note: For security reasons ‘Java’ needs an approval from your system. After you have confirmed the message, you can save your data locally. No programs or other program parts are installed on your computer. If the option is enabled, you can specify where to store your calculation files - either to the eAssistant server or to your computer.

If you choose to store your calculation files locally, you may notice a security warning when launching the calculation modules. Please confirm the message with ‘OK’ or ‘Yes’.

3.8 How to Leave the Program

Click on the button ‘Logout’.

Now you have left the program.

Please note: If you close the eAssistant without logging out, you will be signed off automatically. But you can re-login immediately using your username and password.

Please Note: All calculation modules must be closed. Only then you can leave the eAssistant. In case a calculation module is currently opened you will get a message. If this message displays, click on the button ‘Refresh’ and then on the button ‘Logout’. Then you you can logout.
